Go to platform.openai.com and sign in. No account? Choose "Sign up" and confirm your email first. An OpenAI developer account is separate from ChatGPT Plus and from your TyporaAI subscription.
Open Settings, then Billing, and add a payment method with a small amount of credit. OpenAI bills you directly for what you use. TyporaAI never charges for it.
Go to Dashboard, then API keys, and select "Create new secret key". Name it "TyporaAI" so you can recognize it later.
Copy the key the moment it appears. It starts with "sk-" and OpenAI will not show it to you again.
Save it somewhere safe, like a password manager. Never email it, paste it into a chat, or put it in a shared document.
Subscribe to the cheaper plan if you have not, download the desktop app, and paste the key on the API keys page. It stays on your computer.
